have faith and take the plunge

I had a different post planned for today.

Well, not actually planned since I do little of that here on the blog, believe it or not.  Usually words here are an outpouring of rumblings of mind and spirit.  Thoughts spilling in torrents or gently misting, either way I write what comes to me.

All that said, there was a thought-ahead post.  But, scrap those words and let me begin with fresh ones.

Inspired by a few emails I’ve received from readers recently…from here & there conversations with real-life friends, to thoughts floating in my heart these days, I’d like to encourage us all today ::

have faith and take the plunge.

Living authentically and wholeheartedly to whatever path God has laid out for you takes guts.  Courage.  FAITH.

I say this from the experiences of our family, but also in light of Scripture which outlines numerous accounts of those who, often at great cost, followed the call.  Walked a new road.  Went a different way.  Or stayed put while others changed because that was the plan for them.

The same is true for us, yes? When God directs, when He defines and makes crystal-clear His desires in our lives —

it will almost always require that we take a deep breath,

remember whose we are,

exercise faith (and wisdom too!),

and take. the. plunge. Dive in!

Is it scary?  Absolutely.

But think of the alternative :: not pursuing what’s becoming an increasing focus, a won’t-let-go-of-me hunger, a burning determination will not bring reward.

We are not alone.  The God who calls will not abandon, He is faithful to watch over us.

Today…

reflect on words recited often, perhaps even watered-down in our hearts because we’ve heard them on numerous occasions:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV, italics added)

There are plans. Many, many plans in the heart this God who loves us so.  And they are good :: full of hope.

So with a sense of expectancy,

a mindset of purpose,

and perhaps a trembling heart,

let’s not sit on the sidelines awaiting perfect timing or calmer seas.  If the time is now, and faith and wisdom say yes, then by all means GO FOR IT!

The water’s not so cold…
